26, 2010: Kent Hampton wins first place in chicken at the Malden in May
barbecue contest. Hampton said “While we’re thrilled to take home a trophy for
our cooking, the real winner is Malden. Events like Malden in May are a great showcase
for all the things that make our communities great. Not only does this event
provide an opportunity for families to come out and enjoy themselves, but it
shows potential employers and entrepreneurs that we have a strong sense of
civic pride and have a lot of great businesses and organizations who support
the community.” One Hampton supporter noted that Hampton’s pork steak entry
didn’t finish as well as his chicken and said “Hampton’s getting rid of the

April 15, 2010: Committee to Elect Kent Hampton hosts first fundraiser in Malden, Mo. Supporters from around the district gathered to show their support and pledge their help for the campaign ahead. “I’m grateful for the support shown by my friends and neighbors tonight, and will work hard to justify your faith in me” said Hampton.

23, 2010: Kent Hampton files as a candidate for State Representative in
Missouri’s 163rd district. Citing his experience and common sense
values, Hampton said he looks forward to working with and for the 163rd
district: “As the journey begins, I would like to thank each person that has
offered their support and invite everyone to get involved in helping re-shape
the Bootheel. This is truly going to be a grassroots type
